CAP Apprenticeship

The Pre-Apprenticeship Program is a workplace-mentoring program that matches high school juniors and seniors with small businesses throughout Riverside County. The youth are provided an opportunity to learn marketable job skills while still attending high school. Youth receive a stipend for a maximum of 520 hours at the prevailing minimum wage, are encouraged to develop a savings plan and participate in a savings incentive match. Community Action matches dollar-for-dollar up to $100 saved by each youth after he/she successfully completes the program. The Employer/Mentor also provides matching funds up to $100 saved by the youth.​​​


 - Youth must be in 11th or 12th grade and enrolled in High School.

 - Youth must live in Riverside County

- Youth household must meet poverty income guidelines (see table here).

If you are interested in one of the many Community College apprenticeship pathways and plan to attend one of these Community Colleges after graduation, complete the assigned Google Form below:
Riverside County Student Internship
A Student Internship with the County of Riverside can offer a unique, hands-on experience that can complement classroom knowledge and serve as a foundation to launch a successful public service career. Participants can gain real work experience by being responsible for projects in their area of interest while positively impacting the community and residents of the County. Internships range from Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Engineering, Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, Digital Media, Human Resources, Public Policy, Marketing and more!
    • Current high school or college student.
    • Have and maintain a 2.5 GPA.
    • Must be legal U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder.
    • Some experience/qualifications recommended.
How to apply:
Prepare a resume with updated contact information, work/internship/volunteer history, cumulative weighted GPA, degree program, expected graduation date, university attending, full- or part-time status in the current and/or upcoming term, and an objective stating that you are interested in an internship and in what areas.
