This course is designed for the serious student who wishes to pursue a deeper understanding of the institutions of American government. Students draw on their studies of American History and other societies to compare and contrast different systems of government operating in the world today. This course should be viewed as the culmination of the civic literacy that prepares the student to vote, take on responsibilities of citizenship, and encourage participation in community activities.  Students are expected to do significant writing and extra reading beyond the textbook. This course meets UC/CSU (History-a) requirements.
